Excited to meet you!

Dr. Annaliesa Sullivan, DC

Hey! I’m so glad you found your way over to my little corner of the internet! While I would rather meet you in person and chat at a cute coffee shop or hike in the mountains, this little page will have to do!

I completed by doctorate in chiropractic at Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, IA. While I was there, along with the normal class load and clinic requirements, I had the privilege of teaching in the roles of club leader & teaching assistant (OB/Peds & GU), being a radiology intern, and diving into pelvic floor therapy. My internship at the end of my education journey, in Marble Falls, TX, allowed me to not only spend time with my little nieces and nephew, but also dive deeper into more applied kinesiology, continued pelvic floor therapy training, and be exposed to a wider patient base. I’m consistently amazed by the uniquenesses within each individual person, how we were all created with such intention and purpose, and finding ways to work with the body to heal and thrive.

I have a very “less is more” approach to care. In regards to chiropractic, my approach is gentle (mostly utilizing Torque Release Technique (TRT) and other low force, tonal techniques), specific, and focused on getting you back to the things you love as quickly as possible, while giving you tools to help yourself along the way. In nutrition & supplementation, my goal is to work with food and lifestyle choices first, then check either homeopathic or whole food supplements to fill in the gaps when needed. For pelvic floor therapy, my approach focuses on breath work, myofascial release, and functional movement progressions (DNS style).

Prior to chiropractic school, I spent time interning with a midwife (high school), taught preschool in a special needs group foster home (high school), studied early childhood education (emphasis in special ed), spent time in nursing, and studied applied kinesiology.

Having grown up in rural and city settings, I’ve always enjoyed the rural areas and am passionate about having quality healthcare choices in rural America. My goal is to have everyone I interact with feel heard, have an honest evaluation on what is going on, and be given options that allow them to make informed healthcare decisions. I guarantee there will be moments where I don’t have the answers, but I also guarantee I will do my level best to research, co-manage when needed, and work with you to find the answers.

Outside the office, I enjoy spending time with friends and family, going on hikes, catching a pretty sunrise, gardening, exploring new places, and having deep conversations. My out-of-office goals for the fall are to set up a greenhouse and get our newest dairy cow trained to milk!

Why “Ancient Paths”?

Jeremiah 6:16a

“Stand at the crossroads and look; ask for the ancient paths, ask where the good way is, and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls.”

In every decision in life, including healthcare, there are crossroads we come to, choices we get to make. There is so much wisdom in the medical practices of old; traditional home remedies and treatments passed down through the generations. What if we didn’t have to wait for the next big medical cure? What if what we need for healthy living already exists?

Chiropractic has been practiced in a variety of ways, even before the profession had a name, looking to the spine for the cause of disease. Homeopathy and herbal medicine have also been passed down to us from the beginning of time; so much wisdom passed down those ancient paths.

Regardless of where anyone stands with religion, my hope is that everyone who walks through the office doors feels heard, finds hope, is encouraged by options, and ultimately feels a sense of rest for their souls.

The last part of that verse states the Israelites’ response, “But you said, ‘We will not walk in it.’” If you read the rest of the chapter, you will see that response didn’t end well for them. The invitation to walk down ancient paths of wisdom is still given to us today. Here at Ancient Paths, we choose to say yes.

FAQs

Do you take insurance?

Short answer is no.

I am not in network with any insurance companies. With that being said, it is required by law that I file Medicare, so I am a non-par provider with Medicare. For all other insurance carriers, I am happy to provide you with a superbill to submit to your insurance agency on request!

For auto accidents and personal injury cases, those will be looked at on a case by case basis and could be billed to those insurance carriers.

What can I expect on the first appointment?

Your first appointment will include a full history (be prepared to chat; I want all the details), exam (neuro, ortho, nutrition, AK, and pelvic floor), adjustment (unless it’s determined I need imaging first — Xray/MRI/CT), and looking at what care recommendations could be going forward.

Can you co-manage care?

Absolutely! As far as I’m concerned, you dictate your care. Whoever you want in your corner, I’m happy to do my best to work with.

Do you offer home visits?

Yes! While I don’t have specific hours set aside for this, reach out and we can figure something out! Especially for postpartum mamas or individuals with mobility concerns, this is absolutely an option.
